Whoever said size doesn't matter...LIED!

(insert funny picture)

Okay, I know that title is kinda misleading, but it fits the point of this blog post, anndddd it's pretty funny, so yeah. Anyways, size DOES matter, or at least it does when it comes to your beauty products, and the amount you should be applying of each of them.

So, you have your skincare routine down to a science, BUT I can almost guarantee you are using too much product, or maybe in some cases, not enough. I mean when you see "fights signs of aging" on the label then naturally you want to bathe in it, I get it, but there is a happy medium when it comes to how much product to apply. If you're applying too little than you won't get the desired effects you're looking for, and too much may cause irritation or redness, as well as leaving a yucky film over your face. Unfortunately, applying more doesn't mean better results, it just means you are wasting precious product, and I'm not a fan of waste, especially when it comes to my money, and since skincare products aren't cheap, I'm sure you aren't either. Let's talk about how much you should be applying of each product.

This is going to be short, sweet, and to the point. No pun intended.

Remember this is just a general rule of thumb, and may vary depending on a few different factors, but here's a handy guide to help with product application size:

Cleanser- DIME-NICKEL

*always cleanse with lukewarm water and rub gently*

Toner- 4-5 DROPS

*apply immediately after cleansing while your skin is still damp for better absorption*

Moisturizer- QUARTER

*use gentle, upward-sweeping motions starting from your chest and moving towards your hairline*

Essences/Serums- PEA

*your skin should not feel tacky after use*

Exfoliant- ALMOND

*apply in circular motion not forgetting your neck*

Eye Cream- PEA SIZE SPLIT BETWEEN BOTH EYES

*apply with ring finger by patting, never pulling or tugging*

Face Mask- QUARTER

*emulsify mask with water, evenly apply a thin layer, wait 5-10 minutes, gently remove with lukewarm water*

Spot Treatments- PEA

*gently dab where needed*

Retinol- PEA

*different brands may vary, but typically directions are on product label*

Sunscreen- 1 TSP-TBSP PER AREA OF BODY DEPENDING ON SIZE

*make sure everything is covered, and don't forget the top of your ears, lips, back of your hands, and neck*

That should do it folks! Until next time...

And always remember,

"Life is full of tough choices, but your beauty routine shouldn't be one of them."
